Celebrate the longest day
24 hours of revelry begins at 12 PM on Saturday, June 20, with the opening of Box Commons, a giant cardboard castle, along with artist walks, a DIY merch booth, and YOU. Dinner is at 5, and performances follow. No one is turned away for lack of funds; please reach out to info@oldhatarts.ca if cost is a barrier.
The Longest Day is a small, hand-built festival on a rural island called SḴŦAḴ, or Mayne Island in English.
It is multidisciplinary and collaborative by nature, intentionally weaving together music, performance art, installations, workshops, camping out, and shared meals.
We come together on the summer solstice, when evening stretches out its longest legs into dusk, then puts the coffee on again.
Here is a chance to gather for the everyday and still spectacular experience of being together with friends new and old in this moment that happens only once.

Our work is held on S,ḴŦAḴ. S,ḴŦAḴ is the SENĆOŦEN word for 'pass' or 'narrows', and the WSÁNEĆ place name for the island later called Mayne. This area is the traditional territory of the W̱SÁNEĆ people, who have a rich artistic and traditional culture connected to this place. We extend our thanks and gratitude to them, and acknowledge the privilege of enjoying this beautiful place in their territory.
